这一回我们的英雄——代号007的英国特工詹姆斯·邦德，在北朝鲜发现了另一位世界级的媒体大亨，盖斯特维·格瑞乌斯的阴谋诡计。这个邪恶的阴谋家妄图利用一枚宛如第二颗太阳的卫星来挑起战争、控制地球。而经过调查，007发现盖斯特维实际上只不过是经过特殊整容处理后的原北朝鲜领导人Zao。现在，被捕的007必须抓紧时间逃出监狱并找到Zao，以阻止战争的爆发，制止整个阴谋。 经过一系列38度线上的惊险动作场面，邦德终于越过了安全区逃离了朝鲜。为了追踪Zao，邦德辗转香港、古巴，并再次回到伦敦。在这里，邦德与一忠一奸两位美国间谍展开合作，她们一位是性感的金克斯(Jinx，哈莉·贝瑞)，另一位则是神秘的米兰达·福斯特(Miranda Frost，罗莎蒙·派克)。就此，邦德和金克斯联手行动，共同对抗整个事件的幕后黑手。其间两人更是暗生情愫，将爱情与任务交织在了一起，而子弹便成为了他们的见证人。
