抗日战争时期，因为被人出卖，鬼子屠村，葛二蛋村子里的一百五十多人全部被杀害。葛二蛋（黄渤 饰），麦子（高虎 饰）和苗子（方慧 饰）成了这场劫难中侥幸存活下来的人，寻找背叛者报仇成了三人的使命。在生死关头挣扎，在命运面前抉择，三人不同的性格让他们走上了三条不同的道路。葛二蛋侠肝义胆，聪明机灵，为了复仇加入了八路军，并找到了自己未过门的媳妇孟喜子（童瑶 饰）。苗子因与救命恩人的情爱纠葛，选择了在丈夫培养下成为一名国民党特务。而胆小怕事，自私自利的麦子最终也投靠了日本人，为了私利残杀昔日的亲人。与此同时，就在抗日战争局势开始逐渐明朗化的时候，背叛村子的人出现了，竟然是葛二蛋的父亲，一心复仇的葛二蛋又该如何面对正义和亲情的抉择？
